Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Louisville (KY) Apartment Complex

Louisville (KY) firefighters responded to a three-alarm fire Monday that left an apartment complex a total loss, according to reports.

Crews responded on Monday, February 19, 2024, around 6:15 a.m. to the scene of the fire at the 310 @ Nulu complex, according to WHAS11.com.

Fire Chief Brian O’Neill told reporters that the four-story building had lightweight truss construction, and that several collapses occurred inside the building once floors had weakened.

Fire Engineering Technical Editor Glenn Corbett spoke with WDRB about the incident. The fire reportedly began in an HVAC system on the building’s roof, and althought the building code requires sprinkler systems in the occupied areas of the building, sprinklers aren’t required in areas in between apartments or in the ceilings or floors.

One person was taken the hospital for evaluation, but no firefighters were reported injured.
