Firefighters responded Thursday to an electric vehicle (EV) fire at a mall parking garage in Rosemont, Illinois.
The fire started around 9:45 a.m. in the parking garage of the Fashion Outlets of Chicago shopping mall, according to CBS News.
Members employed a specially weighted blanket to help extinguish the flames, according to the Daily Herald. A hazmat team was also called in to assess the scene. A tow truck reportedly moved the EV from inside the garage to an outdoor parking lot once the fire was contained, and it took about five hours for the fire to be extinguished.
Additional fire crews from Schiller Park, Park Ridge, Franklin Park, Des Plaines, Leyden Township and the Chicago Fire Department provided assistance at scene, reported Journal & Topics.
