The International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) offe AIRCRAFT RESCUE AND FIRE FIGHTING($20), a training manual that provides basic information to help firefighters effectively perform aircraft firefighting and rescue. It also provides the company officer with information necessary for effective command. ■ Video-based training programs on BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS IN THE WORKPLACE (S395 each or S100 each rental) from AIMS Media targets health care facilities, first responders, or industrial facilities. Viewers learn how exposure to bloodborne pathogens occurs and that Hepatitis B and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus are the tw o diseases that pose the greatest threat to employees. The modes by which bloodborne pathogens are transmitted are discussed, as are precautionary measures that can be taken to help reduce the possibility of exposure. ■ TRICKS OF THE TRADE (s 19.95), produced by Emergency Medical Services magazine, is an 80-minute video that show’s how to turn everyday objects into innovative lifesaving tools. For instance, it includes how to turn an IV bag into a lantern, or make an efficient glove dispenser from a plastic water bottle. ■ The American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) announces that Book 3 of its Apprenticeship Training Course Series TRAINING FOR EXCELLENCE is now available. Each book of the series includes hundreds of photographs, drawings, and tables to augment written instruction on proper installation techniques and use of tools. AFSA’s Apprenticeship Training Course is approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and by State Apprenticeship committees in 30 states. It fulfills the BAT requirements of 144 hours per year of technical and theoretical instruction.
