IFD crews responded to the Regions Tower, located at 211 N. Pennsylvania St., at around 10:15 p.m.

IFD officials said that the three men were replacing a window on the exterior of the building when one of the rigs holding the window came off a pulley, forcing the men to hang onto the glass so it wouldn’t fall to the ground.

The men attempted to solve the issue for about two hours but were unable to relieve the pressure on the rope system, forcing them to call the IFD for assistance.

Firefighters set up a rope system from the 36th floor off the side of the building, and used it to alleviate the pressure on the window. The men as well as the window, were then lowered to the fifth floor. The IFD said the rescue took around two hours.

The workers were not injured and said they were most concerned with the possibility that the glass could fall and hurt either them or someone on the street below.
