Clifton (NJ) firefighters were attempting to rescue another group whose boat became stuck in the Passaic River when their vessel went over a waterfall Wednesday, according to reports.
The firefighters on board had to be rescued themselves by a New Jersey State Police helicopter after the incident at the Dundee Dam, according to the Daily Voice. Two members were reportedly transported with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The incident unfolded when contractors working on trees at the top of the 20-foot high dam became stuck after their boat was snagged. Firefighters from Clifton, Elmwood Park, and Garfield put boats into the river to attempt to rescue the contractors.
