Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue’s Air Rescue and Fire Boat Crews Rescue Diver in Distress

Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue’s Air Rescue and Fire Boat responded to a report of unconscious victim on a sailboat approximately 11 miles off shore of Miami. The call was received on March 28, 2016, at 1055 a.m.

Upon arrival the crew on the first Fireboat advised that the patient had been diving over the past several days and had experience symptoms that required immediate medical attention. Divers were deployed and they assisted to bring the patient onboard the Fireboat. Air Rescue Medics responded to the emergency call.

The patient was transferred from between MDFR Fireboats to accommodate for a larger platform for air rescue to be able to conduct the hoist operation. The patient was successfully hoisted onto MDFR Air Rescue and transferred to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

Two workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosion Tuesday at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near the Atlanta airport.
