LA Firefighter Dies After Mobile Home Fire Rescue

Firefighter Scott Osenenko of Fire Protection District # 4, Livingston Parish, Louisiana, died in the line of duty on Saturday morning, immediately after searching a burning mobile home for occupants and battling the fire, according to a report from KATC News
.

Osenenko worked for nearly 20 minutes rescuing individuals from danger and fighting the fire, but after exiting the structure, he felt cardiac distress and was immediately transported to Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

The report indicates that he was pronounced dead at 11:15 am as the result of injuries he sustained and exposures at the fire scene.

Osenenko’s death marks the fourth line of duty firefighter death this year in Louisiana, according to the report.

The cause of this fire in still under investigation.
