Indianapolis (IN) firefighters and the department’s collapse rescue team responded after a woman drove through a bank, heavily damaging the structure.

The 74-year-old female told firefighters that she was attempting to park when she hit the gas instead of the brake. The woman was not injured nor were any of the eight employees or two customers inside the branch.

Employees told firefighters that right before she made entry, they heard a loud noise and then crash. The woman’s vehicle landed on top of a work desk at the rear of the branch, from which an employee had left moments earlier.

The Indianapolis Fire Department Collapse Rescue Team was dispatched to the scene to inspect the structural integrity of the damaged building at the front door. They used a Double T shoring system to secure the doorway and BMO management sent the employees home.
