Building Collapses in Roseville (MI) Commercial Fire

On Sunday November 16, 2014, the Roseville (MI) Fire Department was dispatched along with auto aid from the St. Clair Shores Fire Department to a reported smoke from a commercial building at 31531 Gratiot.

Roseville battalion chief arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke showing from a one-story restaurant. Fire was reported in the rear kitchen area of the building.

Lines were stretched and crews made an interior attack on the fire. Upon entry, firefighters encountered heavy fire and backed out of the building. Command then requested a second alarm and ordered defensive operations.

Roseville Quint was set up in the rear of the building and Eastpointe Truck 1 and Fraser Tower were set up in the front of the building. Crews operated in defensive mode for about five hours to bring this fire under control with total building collapse.

Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe, Clinton Township, and Fraser Fire Departments responded to this incident.
