DAVE EISENBIESZ, an 18-year veteran of the Arvada (CO) Volunteer Fire Department, has been appointed the department’s fire chief. Hisenbeisz joined the AFD in 1974; served as quartermaster, lieutenant, and captain; was appointed assistant chief for all fire prevention activities in 1989; and founded the department’s home inspection program and public safety day.

TRAINING DRILLS FOR LINE OFFICERS

It's the monthly officers meeting in an average-size volunteer fire department. Among the topics up for discussion on the floor are the budget, attendance at meetings and drills, the past month’s alarms, and an upcoming fund-raiser.

FACT OR MYTH?

I think one of the finest compliments I have received since beginning this column was being told, “You seem to be hanging in there on basics-basic firefighting tactics.” Well, if that is true, then I’m making my point, right or wrong.
