Keep up the Good Work

During the month of June, FIRE ENGINEERING participated in one of the largest displays of emergency apparatus, equipment, and informational booths in the United States, the New York State Chiefs Conference. The conference has been growing in leaps and bounds over the years. It attracts exhibitors and attendees from all over the North American continent. Whether we were monitoring our own booth or touring the Concord Hotel's huge exhibition hall, comments about our magazine seemed universal.

Cost-effective truck conversion nets versatile light/air/utility vehicle

One of the problems often encountered at nighttime incidents is sufficient lighting for the fireground or emergency scene. To combat this problem, the Guilford, CT, Fire Department converted a 16-year-old, outof-service rescue/ambulance truck into a large-scale lighting system.

Hydrant marker.

Knowing immediately if a hydrant is out of service can save valuable time during an incident. The Trenton, NJ, Fire Department designed an easy, inexpensive way of marking their out-ofservice hydrants.
