New Zealand Fire Service Reflects Both British and American Influence

I do not travel anywhere without trying to stop in at the local fire department, not even, or especially in an overseas area. In New Zealand, 3rd Officer Baille was my host and assigned Station Officer S. O. Mills and a car to me. Mills showed me both the Auckland Fire Brigade and several suburban volunteer brigades.

Obtituaries

Clarence T. McGraw, founder and president of the Circul-Air Corporation, died suddenly on April 13 in South Macomb Hospital in Warren, Mich. He was 84 years of age. McGraw became interested in fire apparatus while working as a young man in his father’s hardware business in Jackson, Mich.

N. Y. State Fire Academy Stresses Need for Pure Air

The New York State Academy of Fire Science was founded nine years ago to provide advanced training for both paid and volunteer fire fighters from throughout the state. Between 2500 and 3000 students attend the 50 courses held at the academy each year. Along with advanced fire fighting techniques, the courses stress the maintenance and operation of fire fighting equipment.
