Fire Equipment Digest
Firecraft Division of Western Fire Equipment Co., has introduced a leather glove with a 4-inch Nomex knit wristlet. Made with a leather protector on the wristlet, the glove has Estron lining that insulates and a processed leather that dries to its original softness and will not shrink. The processing also removes oil that can cause a glove to become slick when wet.

Recently a group of us in the Carlstadt Fire Department decided to undertake a labor of love for the benefit of the fire service’s history. We own a hand pumper manufactured in 1865 by the Joseph P. Smith Co. of New York City, and while the rig has always been kept in great shape, it isn’t completely original.

Assurance that Gordon E. Vickery, retired chief of the Seattle Fire Department, will be the next head of the United States Fire Administration was made by Senator Warren G. Magnuson (D-Wash.) at a dinner during the fourth annual conference of the administration at Seattle last October 23-25.
