Podcast: The Professional Volunteer Fire Department: Recruitment and Retention

Podcast: The Professional Volunteer Fire Department: Recruitment and Retention

Host Tom Merrill talks about volunteer fire department recruitment and retention with members of the Snyder (NY) Fire Department.

Many episodes this year featured guests from around the country discussing their department’s programs and efforts. Tom welcomes four members onto the show from his own department, who serve the recruitment and retention committee and have worked very hard over the past several years revising our programs. Their efforts were recently recognized when the department was awarded the 2022 EMS Agency Recruitment & Retention Innovation Award from the New York State Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems. This year alone, Snyder has  brought in 18 new members. Listen in as the committee members discuss the various ideas and programs they have put together and the spirit of cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork that is necessary among the many department entities in order to achieve success.
