Dallas Fire Lieutenant Remains Hospitalized After Fire Truck Crash; Hydroplaning Blamed for Wreck

A Dallas fire lieutenant remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit while three other firefighters have been released from the hospital after their fire truck drove off Interstate 345 onto DART tracks below.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Sunday at Interstate 345 and South Good Latimer Expressway. All four firefighters were transported to Baylor University Medical Center.

Three firefighters were released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon, while the lieutenant has been transferred to the ICU, WFAA reports.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Dallas Fire Rescue Engine 11 hydroplaned, lost control, and fell off the bridge onto the tracks below, according to WFAA.
