Chicago firefighters responded to a fire in the West Lawn neighborhood last night that left a child dead and numerous other people injured, according to reports.

The fire occurred in a home at 6040 S. Kenneth in a one-and-a-half story dwelling of ordinary construction. The fire was in the front attic space.

According to Larry Langford of the Chicago Fire Department, the fire killed a one-year-old child and left a two-year-old clinging to life. A male, 31, and female, 22, were critically injured, along with another five-month-old child. Several others suffered various other injuries.
