WORLDWIDE HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE SERVICE SEEKS PERSONNEL AND SUPPORT
Global Response Service, a newly formed international humanitarian organization, is seeking personnel and other support to enable it to provide fire-rescue-EMS services around the world. In making the appeal, Battalion Chief Robert G. Boudoures, of the San Francisco (CA) Fire Department, who also serves as director of operations for Global Response Service, explains that volunteers are needed for 60- and 90-day assignments in “troubled areas of the world.”
In addition, the organization is accepting applications for full-time, paid positions in field operations. Applicants must be trained in fire, EMS, rescue, and/or haz mat. Organization inquiries are also encouraged.
Boudoures twice has volunteered for fire-rescue-EMS operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina–the first time as a team leader of an operation in Sarajevo and the second in an operation to deliver breathing apparatus to the Sarajevo Fire Brigade and assist in developing an EMS program. He also provided first-aid assistance to firefighters and the general public. “I have found that the rewards of and experience gained from these types of activities far outweigh the hardships,” Boudoures relates.
