Woman Dies in IL House Fire



According to a report from ABC7, the Chicago (IL) Fire Department (CFD) said a 54-year-old woman died South Side house fire early Wednesday morning.

The fire erupted in the home in the 300-block of West 108th Street at around 6:40 a.m.

CFD Battalion Chief Barry Temple said fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor of the two-story home.



CFD members searched the structure after receiving a report of one person trapped. They eventually discovered the deceased woman in a first-floor bedroom.

A tenant who lived on the second floor escaped to safety, Temple said.

The cause of the incident is now under investigation.
