West Peculiar (MO) Firefighter Killed After Fall at Fire

A West Peculiar (MO) firefighter has died after a fall on the fireground while operating at a house fire on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

According to a report on fox4kc.com, firefighter Chuck McCormick fell through the floor near the front door of the home as firefighters entered the home, Grandview Fire Chief Ron Graham told reporters.  He was critically injured when he fell into the basement, and was transported to a hospital where he passed away.

An investigation is ongoing.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at approximately 1104hrs., Firefighter Charles “Chuck” McCormick, 30, responded to a residential structure fire.  When Firefighter McCormick entered the structure, the floor collapsed and he fell into the basement.  He was rushed to the Belton Regional Medical Center where he later passed away from the injuries he sustained in the fall.
