According to a report from NBC News, Stamford (CT) Fire Department (SFD) crews rescued a woman who was hit by and then trapped underneath a transit bus Tuesday. The rescue took approximately 10 minutes.
Just after 3 p.m. on July 5, the SFD responded to 911 calls about the woman at the intersection of Broad and Atlantic Streets.
The below video shows SFD firefighters placing blocks underneath the bus’s front end.
On arrival, SFD firefighters discovered the still-conscious woman trapped under the front axle of the tandem-style bus. Despite being pinned under the axle, the woman was able to converse with firefighters, officials said.
An SFD release said that the rescue process used vehicle stabilization and lifting with high-pressure air bags.
