Glenn Allen, spokesman for the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s office, said Sanji Waters Harris, 49, died in a fire that broke out around 7:15 p.m. at a house on Virginia Avenue in Newnan.

Allen said Tuesday that while the cause of the fire was still under investigation, it appeared to be accidental and possibly started by unattended cooking.

No other injuries were reported.

The Coweta County fire was the second fatal fire of the day reported in south metro Atlanta.

A woman was found dead Monday following a fire on Palmview Court, off Cascade Palmetto Highway in south Fulton County.
