Two firefighters were injured battling a house fire in Bristol on Monday.

Crews responded to a two-alarm blaze at a home at 272 Summer St. in the afternoon hours and had to battle the flames amid already sweltering conditions, according to the Bristol Fire Department.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack to put out the flames that could be seen roaring out of the second floor, fire officials said. They were able to knock the fire down quickly, officials said.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze but are “doing OK,” according to fire officials.

No other injuries were reported.

Fire officials said both the New Britain and Southington Fire Departments provided mutual aid.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
