On Sunday night, firefighters with Andersonville (TN) Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire.
When we arrived, we completed a 360 and found the home to be a single-story dwelling with a basement and an addition to the C side. Smoke condition at the time was heavy and light grey with a electrical odor. We couldn’t see two feet past the threshold due to the smoke condition.
After locating the origin of the fire, it was extinguished and ventilation began. As smoke started to clear, we realized the addition was housing an empty inground pool. We were amazed that a farm house in rural America would have such a thing.
Above is a video showing what we saw after the smoke started to clear and visibility began to improve. I feel it goes to show the importance of a good size-up and to always be on your toes to expect the unexpected.
