Three firefighters were injured while fighting a fire last night in Ontario, Canada, according to news reports.
The injuries occurred Wednesday night while crews were operating at a fire in the community of Capreol, CBC News reported.
Craig Lawrence, the city’s assistant deputy fire chief, told reporters that while firefighters were applying water to the front of the building, a “catastrophic event” occurred that brought down the structure’s facade. Other reports described the event as an explosion.
The firefighters were reportedly transported with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Five tenants also escaped the fire, as well as four people who lived next door to the dwelling, which was deemed a total loss.
