Sparkles On the Road

Hi, boys and girls! Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog here! It has been a very busy past couple of weeks! I have a new little brother, Siren, and he has been keeping me very busy! He came to live with Firefighter Dayna, Tango, and me, and he is learning to be a fire safety dog, just like me! Here he is, getting ready to get on the computer for the first time. He even started his own Siren the Fire Safety Dog Facebook page!

Man, is he ever growing FAST.

Siren got to go on his very first trip in an airplane all the way to Boston! Isn’t that so cool? Tango and Siren are in Southborough, Massachusetts, helping with the release of my new children’s fire safety book, Sparkles Goes to Boston. In the book, children can spend time with me as I travel with Firefighter Dayna from Arkansas to Massachusetts to visit Firefighter Jim and his friends at the Southborough Fire Department. You can meet real firefighters, visit a firehouse, and see Firefighter Jim’s fire trucks! My latest book is the one on top.

Here is Siren helping Firefighter Dayna on the schedule for the Sparkles Goes to Boston northeast book tour. We had so many requests for fire safety presentations that we could hardly keep up!

First, Tango went to Shawn’s school to do a fire safety presentation with Firefighter Dayna, Tango, and Shawn’s dad, Lt. Jim Peltier. Holding the book is Shawn’s mom, Karen.

Then, Siren and Tango went to the Southborough Heritage Day festivities. Siren was too little to walk in the parade. The sirens on the fire trucks would have been too loud for his little ears. He had fun watching, though!

Here’s a picture of Tango in the parade.

They got to see Southborough’s new tower ladder truck. Isn’t it a beaut?

A tower ladder truck is a ladder that has a bucket on it. The bucket is there to help rescue people.

Tango and Siren hung out at the Southborough Fire Department’s open house. Here they are with my good friend, Lt. Jim Peltier:

They met a lot of people and shared the fire safety message.

Siren got so tired that he found a patch of grass and took a nap! Here are some boys and girls watching him sleep!

It was a very fun day!

Coming soon! Part 2 of the fire safety dogs’ trip to the Bay State!

Before I go, I would like to share this fire safety tip:

Boys and girls, I need you to help me keep everyone safe. Will you please help me by making sure that the grown-ups that you live with change their smoke alarm battery once a year? That would be so pawsome!
Until then, stay safe!

Love,

Sparkles
