Dennis Walus shared some images of firefighters working at the scene of a four-alarm apartment complex fire earlier this month in the Detroit suburb of Southfield, Michigan.

On Friday, February 3, 2017, the Southfield Fire Department was dispatched to a reported apartment building on fire at 26856 Carnegie Park. Upon arrival of Engine 4, crews reported heavy smoke from a first floor apartment and flames showing from the rear of a three-story wood frame apartment building.

Companies made an interior fire attack, and interior crews reported heavy fire on the interior extending throughout. Command requested a second alarm bringing in mutual aid companies. Companies operating above the fire reported heavy fire below them. Command reported heavy smoke showing from the roof vents and ordered all companies out of the building.

Defensive operations were set up and master streams were put into operation. Heavy fire vented through the roof and a trench cut was made ahead of the fire. Command then requested a third and fourth alarm for staffing. Companies operated for approximately six hours too bring this fire under control. All five Southfield stations responded too this incident with off-duty call backs and Mutual aid from Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Township, Waterford, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Novi, Madison Heights, and Commerce Township Fire Departments.
