Jul. 12—An American Airlines flight was evacuated at San Francisco International Airport on Friday afternoon after smoke was reported coming from a laptop inside a passenger’s bag, American Airlines said in a statement to SFGATE.

Flight 2045 was taxiing to the gate when smoke was reported, SFO said on social media. The bag was “quickly removed” by crew members and the plane was evacuated, American Airlines said. The aircraft was a departing flight from SFO headed to Miami.

Three people had minor injuries from the evacuation, according to SFO and the San Francisco Fire Department. The airline said one person suffered minor injuries while exiting the aircraft; it did not confirm the three injuries.

During the evacuation, some passengers deplaned through the emergency slides and some used the jet bridge, the airline said.

The San Francisco Fire Department responded to the scene just after noon and extinguished the “smoke source,” Capt. Jonathan Baxter, a spokesperson for the department, told SFGATE. One person required medical transport, according to SFFD.

The issue is resolved and fire crews are still on scene, Baxter said. The fire department could no provide additional details on the injuries.
