According to a report from NBC10, officials lifted a call for residents in Philadelphia’s Wissinoming neighborhood to shelter in place after a massive warehouse fire filled the area’s air with thick, black smoke at around 9:45a Monday morning.
One person was reportedly injured in the fire, which erupted in a warehouse near Van Kirk and Tacony streets. The victim was listed in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
Just before 11 a.m., city officials announced a shelter-in-place order for residents who lived nearest the warehouse.
The Philadelphia Fire Department reportedly brought the flames under control by around 11:20 a.m. By about 11:45 a.m., the shelter-in-place order had been lifted.
The city’s Office of Emergency Management released a statement saying, “For the safety of residents and first responders, we ask that all residents within this area remain indoors until additional instructions are released.”
