Seven Children Escape Highland House Fire

Firefighters arrived at a house fire Tuesday morning in Highland, IL to find seven children standing outside and no adults, reports fox2now.com.

The fire happened in the 1900 block of Olive Street around 10:20am. The Highland Fire Department arrived to find the children outside and heavy fire coming from the living room of the home. The fire spread to the attic. The cause is still under investigation.

The seven children had been in the home when the fire started. All were transported to the hospital to be checked out. Two of the children were taken to a St. Louis hospital for further treatment, but no one is facing life threatening injuries.

The children ranged in age from 4 to 19.
