SC Assistant Chief Dies in the Line of Duty

From www.FireFighterCloseCalls.com:

It’s with deep regret that we advise you that Assistant Chief Rodney Hardee, 66, of the Loris (SC) Fire Department, died in the line of duty on July 9, 2013. He had 40 years of service.

Hardee responded to a brush fire late in the evening of July 6, 2013. On returning to quarters, Hardee complained of having a headache and then left quarters and returned home. Early the next morning, Hardee failed to respond on another emergency call. His wife noticed he was seriously ill and called 911 for a possible stroke.

Hardee was transported to Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach where surgery was performed that day. Hardee succumbed to his CVA injury and passed away around 0200 hrs on the morning of July 9th. Our condolences to all affected.
