San Francisco Firefighter Dies After Fighting Fire at Airport

The U.S Fire Administration released its notification about the death of a veteran San Francisco firefighter.

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Firefighter Christopher Yock, 57, responded to a large fire on the fourth floor of the parking garage at the San Francisco International Airport.

After extinguishment of the fire, he arrived home. Shortly thereafter, he suffered an apparent cardiac arrest and passed away.

According to a release from the department, Firefighter Yock was a member of the San Francisco Fire Department since April 17, 2000. He worked as a firefighter most of his career at Station 10, serving the Richmond District of San Francisco, and transferred to Truck 48 as a dedicated member at the San Francisco International Airport in January of 2019.
