RESPONSE TO A REPORT OF A MISSING FIREFIGHTER
- Always assume the firefighter is lost in the hazard zone until proven otherwise.
- Immediately send fresh rescue crews to the last reported work area of the missing firefighter.
- Immediately initiate a call to account for all members.
- Immediately call for additional resources/additional alarm, including a medical component.
- A change of strategy to a major rescue effort may be required.
