Report Says Seattle Fire Chief Coordinated with Rioters Who Occupied City Area

The chief of the Seattle (WA) Fire Department is facing heat from some quarters after allegedly coordinating with rioters during the occupation of the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in 2020.

According to a report from thepostmillennial.com, a group of Seattle firefighters have sent a letter to various local officals including the mayor questioning whether Fire Chief Harold Scoggins can continue to lead the agency. The report shared portions of the aforementioned letter, which said the chief’s actions made firefighters feel “disempowered” and made it impossible for firefighters to come to the aid of those inside the zone.

The firefighters’ letter also cited previous reporting by The Post Millennial that said Scoggins had been coordinating with Raz Simone, the so-called “Warlord” of the autonomous zone.

In 2020, during anti-police brutality protests in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa activists who had been calling for the abolishment of police set up camp at Seattle’s East Police Precinct on Capitol Hill, according to KUOW. The area was initially designated as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), but later changed to the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP. Numerous shootings were reported inside the area, and one teenager was killed. The area was ultimately reclaimed by law enforcement.
