Portsmouth (OH) Firefighter Dies After Medical Emergency

A Portsmouth (OH) firefighter has passed away after suffering a medical emergency following an emergency call, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Firefighter/EMT Edward Long, 55, was returning to the fire station from a call when he became unresponsive and suffered a medical emergency. Fellow firefighters with him performed life-saving measures and immediately rushed him to the Southern Ohio Medical Center Emergency Department where he was pronounced deceased.  The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
