Portland (OR) Firefighter Ethan Reed, who had been driving Engine 1, a busy downtown company, recently retired after celebrating 50 years on the job.

Ethan Averitt Reed was born on May 16, 1941. He was sworn in as a firefighter on August 8, 1965. He worked at three different stations during his first five years on the job, and has been at Station 1 driving Engine 1 for his final 45 years.
