Indianapolis (IN) firefighters responded to a recent fire that consumed a barn at 2661 S Post Rd.

Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters reported seeing heavy black smoke, visible for miles, and arrived to find the structure fully involved.

During firefighting operations, command switched to defensive operations, and there was a structural collapse.

The fire was marked under control in 30 minutes, with one firefighter suffering a slight injury. Although the fire was knocked down quickly, hot spots remained for several hours.

The cause of the fire was an extension cord that shorted and caught nearby combustibles on fire.
