The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) shared several photos of firefighters battling a massive fire in Queens that left 21 people injured, including 16 firefighters.
According to reports, about 400 members of the FDNY responded on April 6, 2021, to a fire in a six-story building 89-07 34th Avenue in the borough of Queens.
It took FDNY firefighters almost 12 hours to place the fire under control, according to Commissioner Daniel Nigro, who noted that the department was notified somewhat late about the fire and that the door to the fire apartment was left open. First-in units were met in the hall with heavy fire and were unable to push in, with three members getting burned trying to contain the fire to the original apartment.
