Three Firefighters Injured in Philadelphia (PA) Row House Fire

Three firefighters were injured when they became trapped on the third floor of a burning row house Sunday in Philadelphia.

Two of the firefighters, members of Engine 27, were treated and released. A third firefighter, identified by The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/z5EpXP) as Lt. Marvin Melvin, was seriously injured, having suffered burns on both arms and his back. He was in critical but stable condition Sunday night in the burn unit of an area hospital and was alert and talking.

Three or four residents were also injured in the fire.

The firefighters were conducting a search for residents when they became trapped above the fire. Two of the firefighters were able to exit via a ladder, while Melvin stayed back until his men were clear. He then fell to the ground when attempting to exit.
