According to a report from WTAE, crews from Pittsburgh (PA) Bureau of Fire (PBF) responded to what became a huge four-alarm fire in a vacant building on East Carson Street on the city’s South Side Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported just before 4 a.m. near 19th Street. Difficult conditions caused crews to bring this to four alarms.
PBF Chief Darryl Jones said that crews had to reset and get inside the floors, which were “spongey” and the stairs were burned away.
Resident Joseph Lazar, who called 911, said firefighters showed up in around one minute.
PBF crews brought the fire under control at around 5:30 a.m.
Fire investigators are now inside the building attempting to determine what started the fire.
