According to a report from NBC10, Philadelphia (PA) Fire Department (PFD) crews rescued a man from a house fire on the west side of the city early Tuesday morning.
PFD officials said responders were dispatched to the intersection of North 57th and Harmer Streets just before 6 a.m. to a home on fire.
Law enforcement officials said that, on arrival, an injured man, who has not yet been identified, was trapped on the second floor.
However, officials said first responders were initially unable to reach the man.
To reach the man, crews first extinguished the flames, allowing them to then bring the man outside the home and walk him down the stairs to safety.
Once removed, officials said the man was transported to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation.
PFD officials are not yet sure what may have ignited the fire, but they are now investigating the incident.
