One Dead in Phoenix (AZ) Hoarding House Fire

According to a report from AZFamily.com, Phoenix (AZ) Fire Department (PFD) crews pulled an unconscious man from his home after they noticed smoke coming from the house at the corner of 32nd Street and Indian School Road as they were on their way back from a call early Thursday morning.

At around 1:30 a.m., PFD crews arrived to find a neighbor told them the homeowner was still inside. PFD Captain Evan Gammage said that firefighters discovered hoarding conditions inside the home, which made it more difficult to get to the victim.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

PFD crews contained the fire and extinguished it quickly. An investigation has now begun into the cause of the fire and how the victim died.
