A 43-year-old man died after a fire ripped through a Towson apartment building, also injuring three children and a woman, the Baltimore County Fire Department said.

Shortly after midnight, fire crews responded to the 8400 block of Greenway Road in Towson for a two-alarm apartment fire, the department said in a news release.

When they arrived, crews found people trapped and fire showing through the building. The man was located on the second floor and removed through a window, the fire department said.

Three children and a 43-year-old woman were also injured. The department had initially said four children suffered minor burns.

The fire was controlled in about an hour. The fire department is investigating the cause of the blaze.
