OAKLAND – A three-alarm fire that started late Wednesday night ripped through a roofing supply warehouse in West Oakland, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported around 10:15 p.m. at Pacific Supply, located in the 1700 block of 24th Street, according to Oakland Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hunt.
Hunt said the fire started on the sidewalk and spread to the building. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters needed a couple of hours to contain the fire. They kept it from spreading to the warehouse’s backyard where its wood and other equipment were stored, Hunt said. No other buildings in the area were threatened.
As of midnight, the fire was contained but not yet under control, according to Hunt. Crews were at the scene past midnight monitoring for hot spots and keeping the blaze from breaking out again.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
