The second alarm brought two tankers from Wilton and one rescue tanker from Fort Edward to the scene. Hudson Falls Fire and the Saratoga county Cause and Origin team also responded to the scene, with West Glens Falls Fire requested to cover South Glens Falls; they were later upgraded for an engine and a tanker to the scene. The engine from West Glens Falls was turned around and sent to the South Glens Falls station to establish a fill site, and Corinth Fire department was requested to cover South Glens Falls.
Operations quickly went to exterior due to the large amount of household items in the house. Maple Ave fire company (Greenfield Fire District) provided their rehab bus for rehab of the numerous personnel on scene. Among the challenges were a lack of nearby hydrants in the area. Firefighters were often tasked with fending off the chickens and even peacocks that were farm animals on the property.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause remained unknown as of Friday night.
