North Haven (CT) Firefighter Dies After Responding to Multiple Calls

North Haven Connecticut Firefighter EMT Anthony Desimone

A veteran North Haven (CT) Fire Department firefighter passed away after completing a 38-hour shift.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, on Thursday, August 24, 2023, Firefighter EMT Anthony DeSimone, 50, returned to his residence after working more than 30 hours and responding to numerous incidents. The last response was a medical call at a residence.

Less than three hours after arriving home, he collapsed and was immediately rushed to the Yale New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from an apparent heart attack.

Firefighter DeSimone was a 23-year veteran of the North Haven Fire Department. Prior to being hired as a career firefighter, he started as a volunteer firefighter with the North East Volunteer Fire Company #4. He was involved with numerous civic organization including the Knights of Columbus and the North Haven Little League. He is survived by his wife and two children.
