Most Hazardous Industry

Agriculture is currently one of America’s most hazardous industries. To effectively handle farm-related accidents, rescue personnel need specialized training to enable them to deal with each unique situation. Penn State Television and the university’s department of engineering has produced the Agricultural Accidents and Rescue series.

The series consists of 12 videocassettes. In each segment, a narrator leads the viewer through a number of realistically simulated accidents, while rescue teams composed of EMS instructors demonstrate proper rescue procedures. The focus is on the stabilization, access, and disentanglement phases of the rescue process.

The package includes 12 modules, each containing an instructor’s guide, participant’s workbooks, and videotape. Prices are S120-S205 per tape, S12.50-S17 to rent. Contact Thomas McKenna, Pennsylvania State University, Audio-Visual Services, Special Services Bldg., University Park, PA 16802.
