PRESENT BUILDING PROGRAMS of fire departments point up how readily the fire service has accepted the architectural mode of the era. The examples shown here indicate the trend continues to move farther from the traditional “official” structure to the modern one-floor and multilevel type of stations.
All of the buildings illustrated are designed to permit maximum use of floor space in serving the unique functional needs of the service, and at the same time be identified as an integral part of the surrounding neighborhood. These points reflect great credit on the good taste of the responsible municipal officials.
