High Point firefighters found thick smoke coming from the eaves of a burning house on Saturday and rescued one person from the home, the High Point Fire Department reported.
Fire crews said they responded to the 1200 block of South Elm Street around 7:24 p.m. Saturday to find the house on fire and thick smoke in the air.

Once firefighters tackled the blaze to get it under control, they began search-and-rescue operations and found one person in the house. Guilford County emergency crews gave treatment to the patient and carried the person to a local hospital for further treatment.
The fire department did not provide the name of the person rescued from the house.
Fire officials said their investigation determined that the fire was caused accidentally.
