NC Division Chief Dies After Contracting COVID-19

The U.S. Fire Administration released a notice on the death of a division chief with Pender (NC) EMS and Fire who died after contracting the coronavirus.

While on duty, Division Chief Mark Covil, 51, contracted COVID-19 at the fire station. He passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 from the virus.

Division Chief Covil worked at Pender EMS and Fire since 2013, according to the Charlotte Observer, and he previously worked at the Sunny Point Ocean Military Fire Department, Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department, Ogden Volunteer Fire Department, and with New Hanover County Fire-Rescue.
