Names in the News: Charlottesville (VA) Fire Department Edition

This bi-weekly series is dedicated to the latest promotions and other news within the fire service.



MARC ELLIS was named the new battalion chief for the Charlottesville (VA) Fire Department (CFD). Since 2007, he has served the CFD as a Captain in Resources, an officer on truck/ladder companies, the department’s Command & Control Blue Card instructor, and the After-Action Review Committee lead. Eliis is also a graduate of the Virginia Fire Officers’ Academy.



LANCE BLAKEY was named the new battalion chief for the Charlottesville (VA) Fire Department (CFD). A Charlottesville native, he has served the CFD for 17 years and was promoted to the position after serving as a hazmat captain. He will oversee professional standards and be responsible for ISO compliance, recruitment and retention, professional development, standard operating procedures, fire training, technical rescue, and special operations.  



CHADWICK BINGLER was named the new battalion chief for the Charlottesville (VA) Fire Department (CFD). A 22-year CFD veteran, Bingler is a U.S. Marine, fire investigator, fire inspector, plans examiner, and Boy Scouts leader and has contributed to the Critical Incident Stress Management team for 12 years. He most recently served in the Fire Marshal’s office as an assistant fire marshal. As a senior captain, Bingler has been involved in multiple critical incidents as a commander and fire investigator. 



JONATHAN WILLIAMS was named the new battalion chief for the Charlottesville (VA) Fire Department (CFD). A 22-plus-year CFD veteran, he most recently served in the Fire Marshal’s office as an assistant fire marshal. Over the years, he served the CFD as an assistant fire marshal and has moved up through the ranks with experience as an engine, a tower, a truck, and a tiller operator as well as a hazmat technician.
